Statistics About Soft Tissue Sarcoma

Some people use statistical reports to try to figure out their chance of getting cancer. Or they use them to try to figure out their chance of being cured. Statistics show what happens with large groups of people. Because no two people are alike, statistics can’t be used to know or predict what will happen to you.

These are some United States 2007 statistics from the American Cancer Society about soft tissue sarcoma.

• Sarcomas are rare. They make up less than 1% of all cancer cases.

• About 9,200 people will develop soft tissue sarcomas this year. Of these, approximately 5,000 will be men and 4,200 will be women.
